IN THE BEGINNING
During the 1970's, "Captain Bill" Travis was busy studying real estate investment, and rehabbing 4-plexes in California. At the same time he was enjoying a career as an airline pilot for Pan Am. The rehabbing business got to the point of taking so much of his time that he had to make a decision to either abandon the real estate rehab business, or forego his airline pilot career. He chose to follow his airline pilot career and dropped the real estate business.
THE ARMY YEARS
Bill was also a musician and spent 3 years in the Army 4th Armored Division Band, living with his wife and new son off base at Ft. Hood, Texas. His education was in business and he considered doing corporate work after the Army, or continue in music. However, a friend got him interested in flying and after getting his solo license he was hooked. So after leaving the Army, he and his wife Dee sacrificed and worked hard to get him through aviation school. Eventually he had the education and flying experience necessary to get hired by Pan Am in 1966.
THE AVIATION YEARS
Bill's first flying job was as a light-aircraft flight instructor, for two years. While instructing he went on to get a multi-engine rating, and then landed a job with Zantop Airlines. They were an all cargo airline flying auto parts from Detroit, and cargo for the Military Logistics Air Command. He flew 2 years as a co-pilot and checked out as Captain in 1961.
In 1966 he was fortunate to be selected and hired by Pan Am. He was based at San Francisco where he flew international routes all over the world until 1984.At that time he transferred to New York to fly the Atlantic Routes, and commuted to NY from SFO. He retired in 1992.

THE DRUMMERS DREAM After retiring from Pan Am in 1992, Bill decided to realize his dream of being a big-band drummer. He had played drums since he was 14, and began studying again while on layovers in New York starting in 1985. By 1995 Bill had his own 17-piece big and was booking that band www.btso.com and several of his party bands in the San Francisco area.

TIME TO RELOCATE TO ARIZONA
Both he and his wife Dee had wanted to move to Arizona to the Phoenix area since 1991; and in 2004 they decided to make that move. They looked at the real estate communities of Scottsdale, north Phoenix, Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, and finally decided to buy a home in the Gilbert community of Val Vista Lakes.
He considered starting a band in Gilbert, however, because of the time, effort and expense of getting one started, he decided to just settle for playing drums for other bands and not start one of his own. This gave him the opportunity to go back to his other love - real estate investing and rehabbing. He decided to get his real estate license and also work as a Realtor so he could get further education and re-learn the business from a realtors real estate view point.
VALUABLE LIFE EXPERIENCE SKILLS
He learned that due to the strong customer relations skills he developed while flying as Captain for Pan Am, that those skills carried over to his real estate clients, both home buyers and home sellers. And his background in rehabbing homes and continued studying of real estate appraisal techniques, which he used to buy his own properties to rehab, helped him to provide more valuable information to his clients, and especially for first time home buyers who need someone with vast real estate experience and life experiences that carry over to their clients.
VACATIONS
During the last 8 years of his flying career, Bill was able to take his wife with him on his flights to various parts of the world. He was based in New York where he had a commuter apartment in Queens, and commuted from his home in San Francisco. He and Dee spent a lot of time in New York between trips visiting friends and seeing their favorite jazz musicians in clubs. It was a series of mini-vacations.
It was almost as if Dee had her own private Airbus A-310 and pilot crew, (which she shared with other passengers. A private crew bus picked her and the rest of the crew up at the plane, delivered them to the hotel and picked them up the next day for the next leg of the journey.
It's understandable that my Dee wasn't ready for Bill to retire. She loved the trips, and Bill enjoyed her company. She also got along very well with the flight attendants.
Now, after having traveled the world for 28 years as a Pan Am Airline Captain, Bill is content to have short vacations with Dee up to Las Vegas to see the shows, an occasional trip to New York, or to California to visit family and friends, or to just relax at their waterfront home in Gilberts' Val Vista Lakes
ATTENTION TO DETAIL
An Airline Pilot must pay constant close attention to detail in order to be certain that his passengers will have a safe and comfortable journey to their destination. Bill's dedication and attention to detail earned him an assignment as a Check Airman with Pan Am.
A Check Airman helps to train co-pilots who are in training to become a Captain, and gives 6-month proficiency checks to other Captains and co-pilots. Every 6 months each pilot is required to take an FAA flight physical, attend ground school, pass an oral exam and a flight check, so that they maintain a high degree of proficiency.
Bill carries that same dedication and attention to detail over to his real estate business. He understands that by continuously studying; paying strict attention to detail; and being committed to follow through with his clients until the transaction is smoothly completed in escrow, and beyond, will result in having many satisfied clients.
RELOCATION
Bill's knowledge and dedication to his relocation buyers makes buying a home in the Phoenix or Gilbert area hassle free. He knows that only the buyer can determine if a city, community, or particular house is right for them. Therefore, he realizes that his job is to be a facilitator and assist the client in obtaining the necessary information in order that his buyers can make an informed decision.
Once a home has been chosen, it's Bill's responsibility to know the market, determine the current value, and the proper negotiation strategy to use in order to assist the buyer in buying the house at the best price.
READY AT YOUR CONVENIENCE
Bill knows how valuable his home buyers time is. Therefore, he does not block out his "return calls" time to make it more convenient for himself. He answers the phone when his buyers call, and if he is with a client he will return the call as soon as possible. He responds quickly to emails, many times with short responses from his iPhone in the field. He also returns text messages. (but not while driving)
TELL A FRIEND
Many of Bill's clients come from continued relationships with satisfied customers and referrals from those clients. People use Bill for their real estate purchases because he works diligently for those who have formed a real estate partnership with him. Do your friends and family a favor and tell them about "Captain Bill" Travis.
