There are many reasons why Gilbert is fast becoming one of the best places in Arizona to raise a family. With some of the best local schools and a safety record that’s one of the best in the country who wouldn’t want to live here?

Gilbert real estate is frequently in demand. If you’re thinking of buying a home in Gilbert you can use this website to do the research you need.

Gilbert was originally a small farm town
, and in 1970 the population was only around 2,000 people. Due to the popularity of the Town, for both relocating families and people buying winter homes here, the Town has grown to around 220,000 population in the year 2010.

In the early days Gilbert was known as the "hay capital of the world" because of the large farms and many dairy farms. Today there are still a few dairy farms scattered around; but most have given way to the expanding growth of Gilbert homes.

Today the few remaining dairy farms are located in the south section of Gilbert near Chandler Heights Road and Val Vista Drive.
An interesting note about Gilbert is that the governing body has chosen to keep it as a Town instead of a City, because of the small town feel and image that the residents of Gilbert prefer to maintain.

The old downtown section on Gilbert Rd between Guadalupe and Elliot still embodies this old town flavor.

Walking into the barber shop in the old downtown section of Gilbert is like walking back in time to the 1930's or 1940's, with old photos on the wall, and very friendly barbers who take their time and do a good job for you.

Joe's Real BBQ has also maintained that old town flavor, from the long brick building to the neon sign, to the John Deere tractor that is located inside the restaurant.
The Town of Gilbert has matured into a very beautiful and highly desirable area for families looking for a family friendly area to relocate to in the "valley of the sun".

It is a rather short commute to the downtown area of Phoenix, or to Old Town Scottsdale, which is always fun to visit, and to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.
